If you are not only good at planning and communicating, but you also enjoy doing it, then training as an administrative assistant is definitely an interesting option for you.

What do Administrative Assistants do?

Administrative Assistants carry out administrative and organisational tasks in all sectors. The range of tasks is very diverse, so there is certainly no chance of boredom.

Some of the activities at a glance:

  • Organisation and coordination of office and project-related processes,
  • Cooperating and communicating with internal and external partners,
  • Designing, documenting and maintaining customer relations,
  • Using information, communication and booking systems,
  • Researching, presenting and securing information,
  • Supporting personnel management tasks (e.g. keeping personnel files or preparing employment contracts),
  • Processing procurement procedures, preparing invoices and monitoring payment transactions,

Coordinating appointments, preparing meetings and processing correspondence.

How does the course in office management work?

Your training course as an office management assistant lasts a total of 3 years. In the first and second year, you will learn the theoretical basics of office management. In the third year, you can then get started in practice and application and further deepen your knowledge in a 10-month internship of your choice.

Classes are held from Monday to Friday and are divided into subjects and learning areas. The subjects German/Communication, Business and Social Studies, Business English as well as Sports and Health Promotion cover the general education area. The occupation-specific content is taught in learning fields.

You will complete the training course with an examination at the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

At the end of your training programme, you even have the option of obtaining the advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachabitur) in a 1-year course.
