We recently took our foreign languages classes on a trip to the Korean Cultural Centre and experienced a variety of exciting activities. Everything from traditional festivals to making Hanji, a Korean paper, was all there to see. We also sang Korfan folk songs and got to try on some impressive Hanboks, the traditional Korean costume.

Korea has a rich tradition of festivals that are celebrated throughout the year. These include the New Year festival Seollal, the harvest festival Chuseok and the Lantern Festival. In May, Koreans also have Children's Day, Parents' Day, Teachers' Day and a day to celebrate coming of age. We learned a lot about the cultural significance and customs behind these events especially the May holidays.

We visited the exhibition about Hanji, where we were amazed to see what incredibly delicate and artistic objects can be created from simple paper. We then also got the opportunity to do handicrafts with Hanji ourselves under guidance.

The highlight of our day was trying on the Hanboks. We were fascinated by the vibrant colours and elegant design. It felt a bit as if we were immersed in another time and culture as we strutted through the rooms.

What a day! Our visit to the Korean Cultural Centre was a great experience where we not only learned a lot about Korean culture, but also developed a deep appreciation for its diversity and beauty.
